Bruno Beltrão

Bruno Beltrão was born in 1980 in Niterói, a suburb of Rio de Janeiro, and he started performing various styles of urban dance (particularly hip hop) at the age of around 10. In 1996, and still a teenager, he set up the dance company Grupo de Rua with his friend Rodrigo Bernardi, going on to win various competitions and setting standards in the world of urban dance. From the early 2000s, the company widened its scope, taking its activities closer to contemporary dance in particular. After Rodrigo Bernardi left the company in 2001, Bruno Beltrão become the company’s sole director and he created several shows, including Telesquat which has been performed all over the world by the Grupo de Rua. In the meantime it has become one of the leading companies on the contemporary dance scene.
