David Wampach has developed a personal approach that is strongly influenced by theatre and the visual arts and that is partand parcel of the Association Achles. For a number of years now he has been creating works tinged with great freedom, often backed by history. ENDO involves reviving a piece of history, the trend of endotism that began in the 1960s and 70s with Picasso and Francis Bacon and challenges conceptual art and all forms of exoticism. No longer exotic, but “endotic”, according to the writer Georges Perec. ENDO thus returns to the heritage of performance and contemporary practices of action art illustrated by artists such as Terayama and Japanese members of the group Gutaï. The result is a duet in which the body incorporates the adventure of the performance in colour and excesses, jumbling up the history of dance and that of performance. Valeska Gert meeting Gutaï in the body of danced action, with the fully engaged presence on stage of Wampach himself and his partner Tamar Shelef.
