Cameroonian dancer and choreographer Zora Snake is researching his country’s traditions, “aesthetics of the invisible world” and his ancestors’ legacy. L’opéra du villageois is presented as a performative and political essay, a ritual around gold and salt, the resources plundered by colonisers. Homage is paid to the inhabitants of villages who were long considered “uncivilised” in order to awaken their strength and resistance.
