Une co-présentation Charleroi danse et L’Ancre

Founded in 1998 by Sophie Perez and soon after joined by Xavier Boussiron, Zerep creates shows that are intentionally free of any kind of hierarchy in an offering between theatre, dance and performance. “At Zerep,” according to Sophie Perez and Xavier Boussiron, “we don’t work at a table. We work standing up. Because it’s the practice, wonderfully tangible, that allows us to keep questioning the disturbing relationships between gestures and words in experiments on stage”. Les Chauves-souris du volcan make their presence felt, agitated by fits of sobbing and irrigated with plenty of tears, featuring ceremonial dances to ward off the inexpressible. “What’s inside a girl?” asks the singer from The Cramps. Sometimes it’s through the eyes that the body overflows. On a stage turned into a huge translucent cave, three women weep unrestrainedly. And then it’s rather jolly, particularly with the equally incongruous arrival of “Mister Entertainment”. In any case it’s about glorifying the impossibility of maintaining control.
