Bruno Freire, who is originally from Brazil, has dabbled in this and that, trying his hand at architecture, communication, video, dance, theatre, performance writing, semiotics, photography and poetry, ultimately declaring that he’s been unsuccessful at everything. He is now embarking on a search for the wonderful found in the kind of opera around in the 17th and 18th centuries all the way up to more recent performances. So he has set off in search for possible movements that are capable of eluding us and experiencing our capacity for astonishment in the face of life’s absurdities. This project is presented like an invitation to astonishment and is tackled using various questions: What can the wonderful do now? What forms can it take? What physical movements can it generate? With such a delicate subject, all that remains is to invent a mode of solo performance of a poetic and performative story, trying out tricks that surprise and… fill us with wonder.
