After studying history, Jonas Chéreau trained as a dancer at the CNDC d’Angers. As a performer he has worked with the likes of Daniel Larrieu, Fanny de Chaillé, Lilia Mestre and Nada Gambier. As a choreographer, he has again used collaboration and hybridisation to advance his approach alongside Jacques Bonaffé, Madeleine Fournier and Diederik Peeters among others.

His dance universe is happy to collaborate with other disciplines, sensitivities or aesthetics. In 2019 with Baleine, Jonas Chéreau embarked on a new creative exploration, this time on his own. He has now created a new version of it for young audiences, Temps de Baleine, tackling the notion of time from every angle, including passing time and the time of day. In this low-tech “weather forecast dance” which “has fun connecting internal emotional states with external ones”, the choreographer interlinks movement and image, plays with words and their texture and surveys the mental landscapes of global anxiety, from atmospheric variations to short-lived disturbances.
