In October 1992, Dominique Bagouet, a major artist in the late 20th century, wrote about So Schnell : “so the dance became a quick escape – so schnell, so fast – that doesn’t want to end”. As fast as it sped, though, the dance had to stop: a few weeks after writing this note, the choreographer passed away at the age of 41.
Thirty years later, with some minor adjustments to the costumes and set design, Catherine Legrand’s version emphasises the tension and seriousness of a work that the modest Bagouet masked in humour and imagination. The dance leaps and runs wild without ever getting carried away; counterpoints and canons direct combinations of phrases that, while complex, are never confused; chases, games and intertwining unleash feelings and a sensuality that never spread. The threads of a choreography comprising a hundred individual scores merge into a single song  of a space that is crossed by passing time. So fast, so fast.
