Rooted in reality and transformed on stage, this is the alchemy at the heart of the Cie Abis. Focusing on the opposites of construction and collapse, this new piece is based on physical mechanisms, bringing out the abstract and absurdity, if not naivety, of humans encountering an increasingly complex world.

The meaning of the title Collapse is both literal and figurative: material, psychological, political, economic, environmental… “What interests us is the moment of suspense when disequilibrium occurs, leading the whole structure to become distorted by a succession of chain reactions”, explains Julien Carlier, who without dwelling on it too much is keen on “the fragile and precious aspect of the moment of collapse”.

The playful experience of constructing/demolishing, the extreme scales of size are part of this creation that has hip hop running through it and is performed by a Belgian, Dutch and French cast, supported by the music of Simon Carlier and experimental drummer Tom Malmendier.
